Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing processes and production schedules. This individual will ensure efficient production operations, improve existing processes, and help introduce new technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer and Planner will be responsible for using our ERP system, Fulcrum, to create and maintain work instructions and routings critical to production planning. This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and experience in manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning: Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to ensure timely completion of manufacturing orders.
  • ERP System Management: Utilize Fulcrum ERP to create and manage accurate work instructions and routings to streamline production planning and scheduling.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, analyze, and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Engineering Support: Collaborate with design and engineering teams to optimize product designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Quality Control: Establish and monitor quality control processes, ensuring products meet specified standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot any issues that arise during production.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce costs and increase productivity.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with suppliers to ensure that materials are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with the procurement, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve any production bottlenecks or issues.
  • Cost Control: Analyze manufacturing costs and recommend changes to reduce production costs while maintaining product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production planning, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with manufacturing-specific software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Fulcrum, for creating work instructions, routings, and production schedules.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, AS9100).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aerospace preferred 
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
