About Us: G3 Aerospace is a fast-growing aerospace engineering and manufacturing company specializing in vacuum-formed plastic components for aircraft interiors. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and responsiveness, we support OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers with custom solutions.
Position Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to lead continuous improvement efforts, develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes, and support our vacuum forming operations. The ideal candidate will be both technically competent and operationally driven, ready to work closely with production, quality, and design teams to ensure we maintain high standards of efficiency, quality, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes, particularly for vacuum forming and secondary operations (trimming, bonding, hardware installation).
- Support the maintenance, repair, and performance improvement of existing equipment including CNC routers and thermoformers; collaborate with production and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and increase reliability.
- Evaluate, recommend, and advise on future capital equipment purchases based on production needs, technical requirements, and long-term scalability.
- Collaborate with design and tooling teams to ensure manufacturability of new parts and support tooling development and validation.
- Drive continuous improvement through process analysis, waste reduction, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Support the setup and optimization of thermoforming equipment and forming parameters for various thermoplastic materials.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Create and maintain standard work instructions, job travelers, and manufacturing documentation.
- Assist with new product introduction (NPI) and manage prototype-to-production transitions.
- Interface with quality to resolve non-conformances and improve yield.
- Support ERP system data entry related to routing times, BOMs, and production process steps.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role; experience with vacuum forming or thermoforming preferred.
- Familiarity with thermoplastics used in aerospace (e.g., Kydex, Boltaron, ABS).
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, process control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and basic drawing interpretation (GD&T knowledge a plus).
- Experience writing work instructions, process documents, and technical reports.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and process development skills.
- Experience working in an AS9100 or aerospace quality environment is a plus.
